Navigating the magical halls of Hogwarts Castle often leads to unexpected side adventures that reward curious players. One popular early-game mission is the Dissending for Sweets quest, given by Garreth Weasley near the Great Hall. Completing this objective grants useful experience points and unveils a hidden pathway connecting the school grounds to Hogsmeade.
Starting the Quest and Locating Garreth Weasley
To begin this quest, speak with Garreth Weasley, who can be found leaning near the entrance area leading toward the Great Hall. He requests assistance in obtaining rare Billywig Stings from Honeydukes sweet shop. Since he cannot leave the castle grounds easily, he points you toward a secret passage.
After agreeing to help, follow the quest marker to locate the One-Eyed Witch statue situated on the third-floor corridor. Interact with the statue by using the secret password Dissendium to open the hidden passageway. Step inside to begin exploring the subterranean tunnel system.
Navigating the One-Eyed Witch Passage Puzzles
Once inside the secret tunnel, you will encounter a series of environmental obstacles that require basic spellcasting. Use Reparo to fix the broken wooden lift, then step inside and pull the lever to travel downward. Clear away giant spider webs along the cavern walls by casting Incendio.
To cross the large gaps, target the broken platforms with Reparo and levitate them using Levioso so you can jump across safely. On the final platform puzzle, cast Accio on the upper mechanism while raising the platform to reach the far ledge. Light the two braziers flanking the final exit door using a fire spell to open the cellar door.
Retrieving the Ingredients and Completing the Mission
Climb the ladder out of the secret passage to enter the storage cellar of the Honeydukes candy store in Hogsmeade. Look around the workbench area on the right side of the room to gather the requested dried Billywig Stings. Take some time to collect nearby loot and field guide pages before leaving.
Fast travel back to Hogwarts Castle using the Floo Flame network to find Garreth waiting in the corridor. Deliver the ingredients to him to claim your reward of experience points and a unique Conjuration spellcraft item. Completing this task permanently unlocks the secret route between the castle and Honeydukes for future convenience.
