Finding the Santos Espinosa Dam Location
To begin The Long Drop treasure hunt, players must travel to the region of La Joya located within El Este. The starting point is situated specifically at the Santos Espinosa Dam, positioned northeast of the Pequeño Reservoir. Look for a blue utility building near the reservoir where an orange note box introduces the mission details.
Upon reaching the dam catwalk, you will observe a tragic scene where a dam worker falls, taking the key card down with him. Obtaining this key requires controlling the water flow by interacting with the dam control room systems.
Unlocking and Entering the Control Room
The primary entrance to the control room remains locked, so you must find an alternate path inside. Position yourself by the barred windows near the front door to locate the latch on the rear entrance. Shooting the lock through the window allows you to unlock the back door safely.
After shooting the lock, use the nearby vines or climbable structures to reach the roof and drop down behind the building. Walk through the newly unlocked back door to gain full access to the control panels inside.
Solving the Sluice Gate Puzzle Sequence
Once inside the control trailer, you must activate four specific controls in exact chronological order to adjust the water levels. Start by pressing the button located on the yellow control panel next to the calendar. Next, walk toward the main room and press the button on the green monitoring machine.
After hitting the second button, turn the orange hydraulic valve mounted on the nearby wall. Finally, return to the main blue console near the binder and press the primary switch to close the sluice gate successfully.
Retrieving the Key and Claiming the Weapon
With the sluice gate closed, exit the building and head back out to the broken dam walkway. Attach your grappling hook to the anchor point and lower yourself down to the ground level where the worker landed. Search the worker's body to retrieve the required key.
Climb back up to the blue storage building where you first started the hunt. Unlock the storage door with the key to claim your reward, the Excavation Execution shotgun, along with additional resources.
